From the Eotriassic layers from Madagascar 4 Coelacanth species have been described. The Whiteia woodwardi is the most common while the Whiteia tubercular is very rare. This unique piece is both positive and negative and has incredibly detailed fossilisation. All details of every single scale is preserved as well is the bone that will with evolution become the humerus. Incredible fossil from a still existing fish species.
